# Julián Leiss — About

> Julián Leiss is a designer from Buenos Aires. He designs artifacts —identities, systems, experiences— across digital and physical. He moves between theory and practice.

## Design Rationale
Form emerges where structure, function, and meaning converge — and design is the work of bringing them into order.

### Structure
Structure: How something is built. The logic of parts, the constraints of material, the order that holds. Structure determines what is possible and what is not. Structure is form as necessity.

### Function
Function: How something works and what it works for. The behavior, the use, the purpose, the problem it solves. Function binds form to the world of agents. Function is form in action.

### Meaning
Meaning: What something evokes. The intention behind it, the references it carries, the sense it makes, the world it belongs to. Meaning is form in relation.

## Approach

Julián approaches every project as a system. Even when the deliverable is a single artifact — a logo, an interface, a poster — the work begins with the rules that govern how that artifact exists, how it scales, and how it relates to everything around it.

This means thinking in modules, naming layers, and building structures that are designed to expand. It means treating constraints as material — the things that can't change become the things that give the work its shape. And it means staying close to both the conceptual ground (why does this exist, what does it mean) and the operational ground (how is this built, how does it work, how does someone use it).

Julián collaborates well with developers, art directors, researchers, and clients across cultures and time zones. He prefers projects with intellectual ambition over projects with safe deliverables, and works best when he's trusted to make structural decisions, not just visual ones.
